Is Shopgate a closed app kit?

No. Shopgate is a backend-agnostic app framework. While builders often force rigid templates, Shopgate offers a professional infrastructure (SDK, CLI, pipelines) on which developers can implement highly individual apps with standard web technologies (ReactJS).

What happens if I switch my shop system (e.g. from Shopware to Shopify)?

This is one of Shopgate's biggest strategic advantages. Thanks to our Unified API abstraction layer, the frontend (the app) is fully decoupled from the backend. When switching shop systems, only the connector in the background needs to be replaced — the app itself remains untouched.

Which technologies are used?

We rely on proven industry standards. The frontend is based on ReactJS and Redux for state management. In the backend, we use Node.js for extensions. For you, this means: your existing web developers or agencies can get started immediately.

How deeply can I customize the user interface?

You have the choice:

How is the checkout process handled?

To ensure maximum security and complexity reduction, Shopgate integrates the checkout directly from your shop system. This means: all payment methods (Adyen, PayPal, Klarna), tax rates and shipping logic you already have in Shopware, Shopify, etc. are used directly.

Are my individual adjustments update-safe?

Yes. Through our extension and portal concept we cleanly separate the core we maintain from your individual customizations. When Shopgate rolls out security updates or new native features, your extensions remain functional. We notify you in advance of any breaking changes.
